A sea of worldsThe Anna Lindh Foundation and the Head of the Spanish Network IEMed have launched the 2nd edition of “A Sea of Words” short story competition. The project aims to encourage the production of short stories that portray the different realities of the Euro-Mediterranean region from the point of view of the young people who live within this region.
"Restoring trust, dialogue and reconciliation in situations of crisis and conflicts" is this year's theme for the competition, which has been defined in line with the objectives of the "Restore Trust, Rebuild Bridges" Call for Action, launched by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the UN Alliance of Civilisations.
To participate in the competition, applicants should be under 30 years of age and nationals of one of the forty three countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region. The short stories can be submitted either by individual writers or two or more writers working collectively. Applicants may submit more than one story. The short stories should not exceed a length of 2,500 words and should be written in one of official languages of the 43 countries of the Euro-Mediterranean space.
The short stories should be original unpublished works that do not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party. Short stories should address issues related to intercultural dialogue, in particular to the theme of re-establishment of trust, dialogue and reconciliation in situations of crisis and conflict.
