The INSIGHT OUT Programme message

EuromedCafe publishes an article appeared in Newsletter N.4 of INSIGHT OUT, an international symposium on digital production technology and workflow – HFF Film & Television University Potsdam-Babelsberg (Germany) with the title:

A new Programme for the Audiovisual Sector in the Southern Mediterranean?

As many of you know, the Euromed Audiovisual Programme II finishes this year. It is unclear whether a new programme promoting cooperation in the audiovisual sector between Europe and the Southern Mediterranean countries will be launched again or not. A first success was achieved when on 30 May 2008, the Ministers of Culture from the Euro-Med region called for a new regional audiovisual programme.

INSIGHT OUT also benefited from Euromed II funding in 2006 & 2007, so that HFF had the pleasure of welcoming a total of 50 professionals from the Southern Mediterranean to Potsdam for two special INSIGHT OUT editions. INSIGHT OUT has been the only training initiative so far, which is able to continue the fruitful exchange with Mediterranean film-professionals beyond the Euromed Audiovisual II Programme, albeit on a smaller scale, thanks to appropriate support from faithful sponsors.

A programme supported by the European Union enables all of the providers to carry out their work at a very different scale. We, the INSIGHT OUT team, feel that it would be important if the EU were to set up a new programme, which continues to build on the successes of Euromed II. If you feel the same way, we would like to encourage you to lobby the Ministry of Culture in your own country, for instance by sending the open letter drafted by the reflection group of the Euromed Programme.
