I am not Lebanese. I am a Serb, living here in Beirut, and my family and I had chosen to live here to escape the horrors and aftershocks of yet another absurd war there. To watch what Israel has done to this place in the past 30 days, even from the relative comfort of my Mount Lebanon home, the immediate surroundings of which, have received their fair share of Israeli bombs, I am sick to my stomach watching dead babies and crying women. I mourn the loss of civilian life on BOTH sides of this conflict and I pity the deaths and displacement of inhabitants of Northern Israel just as much as the plight and senseless deaths of the Lebanese. However, those Israeli civilians have no other than their government to blame for their troubles, and they should direct their anger at their newly-elected Prime Minister, who on this occasion felt that he was being tested and needed to establish himself politically, proving that he's a ruthless war criminal just as his predecessor was. répondre |
